Last night I posted about 6-speeds because I was supposed to be test driving/possibly buying a 2014 Nissan Sentra 1.8s 6MT.
I had previously made an appointment with the sales manager to test drive the Sentra, specifically this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , for 9 AM this morning. I arrived there 10 minutes early and went inside. I was instructed to ask for Emory, so I did, and was told he would be out in a few minutes to deal with me.
Well, I sat/stood in the middle of the sales floor for 35 minutes, no one ever showed up, not a single person approached me or asked if they could help. I went outside (desk person didn't say anything to me as I left) and stood by the car, which they had pulled to the front and marked for me, for a while. Nothing. I looked over at two turkey vulture-type dealers standing by a Frontier a good distance away, they had one eye on me but weren't coming over. so I wandered around outside a while more, then left.
I'm a bit disappointed because thanks a combination of financing deals, rebates, and offers this Sentra was the only new car I was 100% sure I could afford. Plus, just about every dealer in Pensacola doesn't carry any new stick shift vehicles, unless they're sports cars. It sucks.

Sentra is not the stick shift you want.

The person I was supposed to be test driving with, Emory, IS the sales manager. Assuming they actually exist...

Form my experience with dealers, there are multiple sales managers. If not, contact the internet sales department. I've had much better luck with them.

The internet department were the ones who I was speaking to prior to make the appointment. I know they set it up because the car was waiting for me. I just glanced at their site and they seem to have 5 or 6 sales managers, didn't realize that. Thanks.

0.0% NMAC financing offer through September 2nd, which I am assuming I would qualify for because I have good credit.

Today, the title 'Manager' usually doesn't mean $hit. They just give people fancy titles instead of promotions. Go to any bank and see how many 'managers' are working there!

I've owned plenty of nasty 5-speeds, including a Versa, I'm sure this can't be too bad.

Next time just grab a key off wherever they keep them and walk out to the car and get in like you're about to drive off. You might get a little more attention.

Foolproof plan. And I won't have to drag some bonehead on the test drive with me either.

If you really want to car, go back and deal with whoever you can get. Emory just lost their commission

My thoughts:

Good luck on additional discounts though...

You know, I just remembered that the father of one of my coworkers is a salesman at our local Honda dealer. He got $2000 off the MSRP when he bought his Civic Si from there thanks to his old man. I might have a chat with him and see if he can pull any strings for me.
I like the new Fit but dismissed it because with it being, well, new, there aren't going to be a great deal of incentives on it.

It is also a Honda, discounts on any of their new cars are hard to come by until you break about Si or Accord prices.
But, this is also about the only car that you can sell in a year for almost what you bought it for.
